ART BOOK page 75. Artist Andy Warhol, Pop Art style.

Pop art style.

Pop art, Art in which commonplace objects (such as comic strips, soup cans, road signs, and hamburgers) were used as subject matter.

The Pop art movement was largely a British and American cultural phenomenon of the late 1950s and ’60s.

Works by such Pop artists as the Americans Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein, were characterized by their portrayal of any and all aspects of popular culture that had a powerful impact on contemporary life; their iconography—taken from television, comic books, movie magazines, and all forms of advertising—was presented emphatically and objectively and by means of the precise commercial techniques used by the media from which the iconography itself was borrowed.

Some of the more striking forms that Pop art took were Lichtenstein’s stylized reproductions of comic strips and Warhol’s meticulously literal paintings and silk-screen prints of soup-can labels and Marilyn Monroe.

St. Patrick´s Day

It´s always celebrated on the 17th of March.

It´s an Irish holiday. (from Ireland)

The capital of Ireland is Dublin.

The color green is important.

Irish crafts will usually have Celtic symbols like the Claddegh ring and the Celtic knot.

Every member of an Irish family will know how to play an instrument.

The musical instruments that are common to see are the harp and the fiddle

According to the legend, St. Patrick removed all the snakes from the island of Ireland

According to the legend, there are creatures that live in Ireland called leprauchans. They have orange hair, and they live in the forest. It is difficult to see them. Leprauchans keep a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They play tricks on humans. If you wear green, a leprauchan won´t be able to see you-- this way, you may be lucky enough to take their pot of gold
